Shut Up & Write Tuesdays is all about community. Our networks are broad and deep and by bringing people together to write, we are fostering the connection, communication, and care that are at the heart of great scholarship.
This year two members of our community have published books that reinforce the value of those connections. Les Back’s Academic Diary and Tim Highfield’s Social Media and Everyday Politics were published this year and both kindly and generously acknowledge Shut Up & Write Tuesdays.
Tim wrote several sections of his book during SUWT sessions and we are so happy to have been able to support such a significant piece of work.
In Academic Diary, Les has penned a lovely tribute to SUWT, highlighting the importance of bringing a “collective focus” to work that is frequently “a profoundly individual matter” (p112).
We are so grateful to Tim and Les for taking the time to recognise Shut Up & Write Tuesdays in this way. From humble beginnings SUWT has grown into a place where academics from all across the globe are listening to one another, learning from one another, and supporting each other to do scholarship that really makes a difference. And we couldn’t be more pleased.
